Jack & Jill By Kealan Patrick Burke

Gillian (Jill) and her brother John (Jack) used to play on a hill near a cemetary. They would roll down the hill, time after time, until one day a tragedy occurs.

Fast forward to adulthood, and Jill is married with two kids of her own. She's suffering from insomnia, and when she can sleep, she's plagued by nightmares.

The nightmares are becoming hallucinations in Jill's real life. All of this is putting a strain on her marriage and relationships with her kids.

This is a very dark ride through what can happen if childhood traumas aren't addressed and worked through. I've read several of KPBs books, and this is by far the darkest one yet.

Trigger warning for anyone who has suffered from childhood sexual abuse. This is mentioned in the novella several times, although no details are given.

The only thing I didn't like about this book was that the ending felt rushed, and I felt like I had more questions than answers. Beyond that, this was a phenomenal read.
